Land + Passive Design

Designing land, water, and buildings as one system.

On the projects where it fits, we design past the walls — buildings that heat and cool themselves, sites that catch and store their own water, and land that produces food instead of green waste. Where a syntropic agroforestry system is right for the property, we lay out the planting bands in Ernst Götsch's succession order: canopy, emergent, sub-canopy, shrub, and ground layer, stacked so they mature together over 5 to 20 years.
